I was at my local farmers market this week and spied this unusual looking thing. I asked what it was and it is a bittersweet melon. To serve, slice it thinly, saute in a little oil and drizzle soy sauce over it. Not me. I say slice it thickly, paint it with fabric paint,

Nice idea! I too use vegetables in my work - apples sliced crosswise make great starshaped designs when laid on the scanner bed. So do cabbages and peppers. I weave the designs. And I can eat the vegetables when I'm finished.

Oooh - I've never seen one of these; need to go to Chinatown in NY, I think. My farmer's market doesn't have anything nearly as much fun. Eggplants just don't make good stamps.
