I was at my local farmers market this week and spied this unusual looking thing. I asked what it was and it is a bittersweet melon. To serve, slice it thinly, saute in a little oil and drizzle soy sauce over it. Not me.

I say slice it thickly, paint it with fabric paint,

and stamp away.

Perhaps even photographing the stamping and making a thermofax image from it.

Sometimes the farmers market is about more than food.

We have green ones in New Zealand. Good thinking and good results with your printing.
That "thing" makes an awesome stamp Karen! Good thinking!
Nice idea! I too use vegetables in my work - apples sliced crosswise make great starshaped designs when laid on the scanner bed. So do cabbages and peppers. I weave the designs. And I can eat the vegetables when I'm finished.
Gorgeous!
That is fantastic!! Think outside the melon!!
Oooh - I've never seen one of these; need to go to Chinatown in NY, I think. My farmer's market doesn't have anything nearly as much fun. Eggplants just don't make good stamps.
How's your mom doing?
Waaaaaaaaaay cool!
And I love the way you think!
Love your vision. Can you roll it onto the fabric?
Oh, that's just way too cool!!!
i can almost gurantee you will be on my mind the next time i go to the farmer's market!!!! never seen one of those melons but you had the better idea of what to do with it!
