I just came back from 4 days in Athens, Ohio, celebrating Quilt National. What a great weekend it was.
I found out when I saw the book that I am the "back cover and flap" artist, which is pretty exciting.
The wonderful people that put together this show, headed by Kathleen Dawson, went out of their way to welcome the artists, starting with a private viewing Friday afternoon, and ending with breakfast sponsored by Friends of Fiber Art on Sunday morning. They even had posters printed up of our individual work as a reminder of the weekend.
It was fun to see artists I'd only known through their blogs, and to connect with friends like Del Thomas.
I was asked to be on the SAQA panel discussion Saturday afternoon by Nancy Bavor, which included Susan Shie, Pamela Allen and Kate Themel. I was a little intimidated to be up there with these well known artists, especially when they all showed up with no notes and I had several pages! I think I did ok though, and now I can add public speaking to my resume, right?
