I took a class last week at QBL with Dorothy Caldwell, and although it may not look like much, the samples below are one of the exercises from the class. The focus of this class was "The Expressive Stitch" and we learned a lot about Kantha stitching which is native to India. We saw several samples of work done by Indian women co-ops, we had a wonderful talk by one of the students who works with women in a remote Indian village and most of all, we were able to absorb some of the peaceful powerfulness of Dorothy. I think the most important thing she taught me is that we put so much of ourselves into every stitch we take, and to pay attention to that. It was a wonderful week.

Sorry you and I didn't have more time together - it was a hectic week. I was lucky enough to have Dorothy as a suite-mate and she is a true pleasure to be with, as well as being brilliantly talented and down-to-earth. I, too, had a wonderful week and was blown away by the stitching your class did.
Dorothy Caldwell has taught here in New Zealand too. I didn't attend her workshop but was impressed with what I saw during the after-workshop tours.
