Silent Cry

I have finished this piece and am trying out names for it. I think the above sounds a little too gruesome for most people. This piece has a lot af hand stitching which you can only see if you enlarge it. I don't really like explaining why I do something but in this case I feel like people won't get it. The red and black is the pain premature infants feel that can be random, out of control, and debilitating. The green is supposed to be brief moments calm, pain free. The yellow orange is the bridge between the two, often the nurse, who either brings more pain, or relieves some of the suffering. As I said in a previous blog, I think I need to refine the next pieces in this series, maybe excluding the green and making the "nurse" more random. If I hadn't explained it, I think people might like it better because they wouldn't have to read all this into it, so I wouldn't be judged on how well this particular message came across. Right now though, I appreciate any and all comments and thoughts.

Ah! This is the pain piece. I think the Silent Cry works. It is not up to you to explain your title - I think the title and the work will speak for itself. Go with it.

Don't try to explain anything. It doesn't matter. What matters is that the work provokes an emotion which this does. Art like beauty is in the eye of the beholder and art speaks differently to everyone. My first impression is not pain, but a visual expression of color in a b&W world. It is a wonderful piece of work, let it speak for itself. Use the title Silent Cry. It works in a lot of ways.
