TIF March

I've just finished the Take It Further challange for March. This month we needed to pay attention to detail Challenge for March. I looked over some pictures I had taken in Santa Fe last month and decided to use this one of an entry way to a gallery.
I used Saral to trace the image onto white cotton sateen, then stitched on all the lines. Then I got my fabric paints out and my roller and just rolled over the top. This is a method used by Laura and Linda Kemshall in their book "The Painted Quilt", and similair to a method used by one of my favorite fiber artists www.deidreadams.com . It's a little wierd for me to paint after the stitching but I think it's very effective

the 'after painting" is hugely effective. Way to try something beyond your comfort :-)

This piece has also sparked ideas
for me. I love that book , and have
been planning to try that technique.

Your TIF turned out beautifully. I've not been in that gallery, but I love the piece, next time I'm up in SF I'll look for it. The painted quilt is on my list of books to get, I'll need to move it up now!
