Houston 2012

I'm back from Houston, exhausted but exhilarated. What a wonderful four days.  I was the first Twelve there, and this is what I saw when I walked into the exhibit hall.  We had an inside area with the Theme Quilts, and an outside area with the Colorplay.

Brenda arrived a few hours later and it was so wonderful greeting an old friend for the first time. This is a picture of our display area.

We were so fortunate to have Del Thomas as our sponsor for the exhibit. She made this dream come true,  and we owe her a huge debt of gratitude. I wish she could have been there to see it in person.  The comments we received ranged from "You changed my life" to "I don't get it"!

The exhibit area was never empty, and we all had fun talking to the viewers, explaining our project, basking in the compliments.

We were all sad Françoise, Helen and Kirsty couldn't make it, but they were there in spirit, and Gerrie printed out photos of them so we could take them with us to all the celebrations.

What a wonderful memory this week was. I was able to meet Kirstin, Nikki, Deborah, Brenda and Terri in person, so I have now met eleven of the Twelves.  From our display table I could look over and see my other quilt in the show, Spinal Study 1, which was in the Dinner At Eight exhibit. That quilt sold at

Long Beach show, so I won't be seeing it again

Thanks for posting the pictures, Karen. And thanks for the kind words, I'm so glad nine of you were able to enjoy the Festival and each other's company. Love, Del

Wonderful photos! Mine are very grainy. Think I need a new camera. I wanted to say thank you to you for coming early and holding down the fort until the rest of us arrived. You and Brenda really did a great job of starting off our adventure.

I didn't get a photo of our paper friends, so I love yours! It was definitely great to meet all my old friends for the first time -- I love that phrasing. :-)
