Circle game

I've been thinking a lot about circles and dots lately.  My new challenge with my group Digital to Textile  has lots of dots in the photo, and while I originally didn't want to use them, they are starting to grow on me.  I have also been reading Terry Jarrard-Dimond's blog and she is focusing on dots herself.  Finally, when I was looking for circle inspiration, I turned to one of my favorite artists, Pacita Abad

I got out some fabric paints and made a circle stencil and started to experiment.  I picked out only circle images in my stash of objects and began using them to see what I could come up with.  I wish the colors were a little brighter, and I still think I want to mess it up a little, maybe with some large freehand circles painted with a syringe, or maybe another shape entirely.  It's a large piece of fabric, 3 feet by 4 feet, so I might cut it up and make a tryptic out of it.  Or it might end up in my stash!

circles seem to be the design element of the day, so to speak! I can't wait to see where you go with this as both of your suggestions sound good

Hey Karen! I think circles are such a part of our visual as well as physical life they just feel natural and right as part of our art vocabulary. I liked what you have explored so far as it is a nice blend of tradition and innovation....meaning....it is very beautifully designed but shows your hand.
