My husband and I went to the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach this summer and saw some wonderful art, including these "Spirit Keepers" by Shelley Rapp Evens
www.spiritkeepers.com. While walking around, I found a few of these stalks on the ground.

I have no idea what they are, but knew they had only one real purpose.

I painted them and pressed them on some fabric and they made wonderful marks. I've kept them and they are really dried out now, but I"ll use them again.

I'm cutting up my cantaloupe tomorrow to see what it does.

Love your mark making ideas!
Yes, lovely marks! Looking forward to seeing the cantaloupe prints.
I played with dyes and paints today too. My fingers are turquoise now...
Great marks!
To me, the "stalks" look like they might be needles from a Norfolk Pine. We have several of these pines in Copacabana and the needles litter the ground underneath.
