Take It Further for February

I've finished this months Take It Further challange. The challange was to make something that recalls early memories and as I posted earlier, I had to wear orthopedic saddle shoes for many years growing up. I hated these shoes because all my friends were wearing the cool tennies and these were just plain ugly. To amke this piece I drew the image on freezer paper, cut it out and then alternated painting, then ironing another piece down and painting some more. My left leg really isn't skinnier than my right!

The applique is great and the detail of the scuffed toe is super.I'm still struggling to visualise all that I can remember.I think I should consider your simple and direct approach.

I love your February piece - it made me laugh out loud because it's so simple and captures the essence of that memory. I remember calling those "saddle shoes" and we thought they were the height of cool.
